Erik and Mark created their family through traditional surrogacy, and like many gay couples, they are each biologically related to one of their two children.

Their daughters are now teens, and we wanted to know what it was like for the girls to grow up in a two-dad family created through surrogacy.

We sat down with the family in November 2016 at the annual “Men Having Babies” conference in New York City.

During our discussion, the sisters shared openly about their experiences discovering who their “bio” dad was and the whole family offers great advice for how and when to discuss the intricacies of biology involved in families created through surrogacy.
