From our family-friendly welcome reception in Miami to the awesome amenities of the Independence of the Seas, this trip is designed for LGBTQ+ families to bond, relax, and make lasting memories. Here’s everything you need to know about the itinerary, activities, and how to join the fun!
What is the basic itinerary for the Gay Dad Spring Break, including dates?
Thursday, April 17, 2025: Folks arrive in Miami, Florida, preferably before 3 PM ET so they can partake in the afternoon activities including a Welcome Reception. (More details to come about the specific events that day.) That evening families will be checked into the Hyatt Regency Miami.
Friday, April 18, 2025: Our transfer coach will begin taking families to the port at 11:30 AM, with boarding starting at noon. (All check-in and boarding details will be shared upon confirmed booking.) Once aboard the Independence of the Seas, you’ll have time to explore the ship, with suggested meeting points available for families who’d like to connect. In the evening, there will be additional opportunities for families to gather and enjoy time together.
Saturday, April 19, 2025: Disembark at Coco Bay with other families. Get ready for a ton of fun with 5 pool options, 7 beaches, 9 dining options, and more! Lots of activities for all-age groups. In the evening and back on the ship, GWK will host Dads’ Night Out (details will be shared closer to the event.).
Sunday, April 20, 2025: Dock in Nassau and families can decide if they want to explore Nassau or meet up on the ship. Family Farewell event that night on the ship (more details to come).
Monday, April 21, 2025: Disembark from 7 AM – 11 AM. Free time for folks to connect again in Miami or travel homewards.
What activities are planned for families, including kids of all ages?
The formalized activities include the Welcome Reception, Dads’ Night Out, and Family Farewell. In addition, there will be informal opportunities to connect in shared spaces like the pool or kids’ zone, with final details announced closer to the event. Striking a balance between structured events and free time allows families to bond or explore independently. From past trips, we’ve seen that kids and parents often form strong connections, spending much of their time together after meeting.
Are single parents welcome?
Yes! Our co-host José first attended on his own in 2022, and with three kids, he was initially pretty nervous. But the great thing was we all gathered around him and helped him enjoy the vacation as well, making sure he has some downtime too. José and his kids had a blast!
What is the age range of kids typically?
We’ve had from babies under 1 join us, right up to 14 year olds. We welcome all ages and stages, as well as abilities!
Will the GWK Gay Dad Spring Break take over the entire ship?
Unfortunately, no. The ship has a capacity of over 4,000 passengers, and our group is expected to include around 20 or more families. While this represents only a small portion of the total passengers, we are committed to fostering a close-knit and intimate experience with plenty of opportunities for connection and shared moments among our group.
Are all queer and LGBTQ+ families welcome?
We welcome everyone under the LGBTQ+ umbrella! So far, we’ve only had dads join us but we’re excited to welcome our first LBTQ+ family with open arms, and we’re more than happy to update the name of our “Gay Dads’ Night Out” or “Gay Parents’ Night Out!” 🎉
What types of accommodations are available, and are they family-friendly?

Do you have any reviews or comments from families who attended previous GWK Gay Dad Spring Break?
We’re glad you asked! See below from some comments left by dads who attended previous years.
“The Gays With Kids Spring Break is a must for us because where else can you see so many same sex FAMILIES come together and be themselves. It’s truly a judgment-free week and is always a blast. We especially love how all the kids play so nicely and enjoy each other’s company! Dad’s night out is a huge hit, too!”
“Amazing trip. Very well planned out and stellar group of dads with kids.”
“We had a great time! The food and organization was great, and were very glad we did it.”
