Terrell and Jarius, Proud Papas to Twins

Black couple holding their newborn twins

For Terrell and Jarius Joseph, March 2016 was one of the most difficult times of their lives. Their surrogate, who was pregnant at 20 week, had a miscarriage. Only a few weeks earlier, the Atlanta couple had done a gender reveal, sharing with friends and family that they were having a baby girl. They named her Aubrey.

When their surrogate miscarried, Terrell and Jarius were devastated.

The two men met in college through mutual friends. Terrell and Jarius considered all the options when it came to becoming dads, but decided surrogacy made the most sense for them. But their path was fraught with difficulties. The dads-to-be met and were connected with several surrogates, and struggled to get pregnant with another.

Terrell and Jarius were thrilled when they found out they were expecting a girl, only to be devastated when they lost her.

But, the men persevered with their dream of fatherhood.

On January 11, 2017, they married. And later that year, something incredible happened.

“With tears of genuine happiness, we would like to introduce you to the newest members of the Joseph family… Ashton Cole Joseph and Aria Brielle Joseph. Forever daddy’s babies!!!”

Terrell and Jarius became dads to son Ashton and daughter Aria in 2017. The two children were born to two different surrogates. Ashton was born prematurely on July 27 and had to stay in the NICU for several weeks. Aria was born September 9.

“We vow to be the best parents possible to our children! To put back positivity in a world filled with hatred. To love them unconditionally and to always be there for them!”

Congratulations to the Joseph family!
